Dear Paul, Clare + Giorgia
We really have had a wonderful time staying here in this beautifully renovated house, full of character as is Carunchio. We can quite see why you chose to come here yourselves. We came for a relaxing break and have certainly done just that.
Thank you so much for making us so welcome and for including us with your family and friends. We will be coming again, hope to see you soon in theUK.

We have been travelling in Italy for about 2 months now and we have had a lot of good experiences. But Paul & Clare: this week in Carunchio is definitely one of the top ten! We have enjoyed everything, from visiting your beautiful Cara church, picking asparagus in the woods with you and Angelo and sharing lunch and dinner with you and the very friendly people in this charming village. We would certainly recommend this place to all our friends!!!
See you!

Sorry we didn’t get a chance to meet you and your family Clare. Hope all went well with your Uncle’s op.
We have had a lovely few days in the beautiful quaint and rustic ‘Casa Margherita’ and have travelled far and wide over beautiful mountains, countryside and coast where the scenery has been at times breathtaking.
We have enjoyed meeting with the locals and despite the language problem we have enjoyed their friendly (as we Irish say) ‘CRAIC’. Your library of tapes dvd’s, books have been thoroughly enjoyed.
We will certainly recommend ‘Casa Margherita’ to our friends.
Kindest Regards

6weeks! We meant to be here much longer but our own Italian ‘calling’ beckons us in Sulmona.
It has been the perfect start for us. We have seen the real Abruzzo (actually we have seen a lot of it) and are convinced that this is where we will settle.
Tuscany, Umbria, Puglia…….? PAH!
Giorgia – we’ve loved your company.
Clare – we’ve appreciated your help and friendship
Paul- we’ve missed you completely!

Fantastic stay here
at Casa Margherita –we didn’t want to leave! This was our first visit
to Ital, and what a first experience it has been. Carunchio has
inspired us to look at buying somewhere over here, just to relax.
Carunchio is a
beautiful village, with friendly people. We’ve never stayed somewhere so
lovely-nor in a home so well equipped as Casa Margherita.
I’m sure we’ll be
back to stay one day! Thanks

Dear
Clare and Paul
We had
a great time here. It was really unexpected to be so well provided
for. We've never stayed somewhere where there has been so many DVDs,
games, bikes etc to borrow. Also thank you for your help with
translations. You're excellent hosts.
We
recommend that you put more pictures up in the website and advertise
more. We've stayed at a lot of self-catering apartments around Europe
and this is easily the best. The website didn't do it justice.
We will
recommend this place to our friiends
All the
best

After staying in the beautiful Casa Margharita last
October/November I thought it would be nice to spread the word to other
prospective guests.
After finding Peaceful Retreats on the internet we decided to book for a
five day get away at the end of October last year, 2007.
The booking itself was a piece of cake, one of the smoothest I have ever
experienced. Clare was so helpful with travel routes and directions we
found the village of Carunchio without a problem, even at 10.00pm on a
blustery wet night!
I am always sceptical about hiring a holiday home, admittedly I know I
am hard to please as I enjoy authenticity in a property but I also enjoy
being warm and cosy. Casa Margharita ticked all the boxes as it is a
BEAUTIFUL traditional village home with the added bonus of feeling as
cosy as a 'box of kittens' for the entire stay. It was so lovely to come
back from a hard days exploration to this soulful hideaway. I would not
be exagerating when i say it felt like the house was giving me a hug!
My husband is more 21st century and therefore was particularly chuffed
to find a good selection of DVD'S to chill out to late into the night.
My daughter particularly loved Carunchio. It really is a 'special'
little place with quite a few lovely surprises! We found the locals so
helpful and very accomodating of our very poor Italian!
We loved the layout of the property and could quite easily have moved
in, that's how much it felt like home!
My family and I would love to return to this beautiful house and explore
the region during the warmer months of the year and probably will do so
quite soon.
Thankyou Clare, we had the most positive Italian experience and I really
do feel that was down to you and your unique touches.
See you again soon

Clare
Thank you for all your help and suggestions whilst visiting Carunchio.
Maybe we will be back in the summer to experience some good weather!!
Beth (England)
Your village is very special, I can see why it seemed to call you – it’s
lovely because you seem to fit it, you have found your niche – that is
so precious in life.
Casa Margherita is very cute. We loved staying here and the area is
stunning in good or bad weather.
Take good care Clare (if all goes well we will let you know) Jackie &

Thank you Paul and
Clare for the most wonderful 2 weeks here at your beautiful Casa
Margherita. The house has charm and character, as well as being so
comfortable and welcoming. We have loved waking up to that great view,
chatting with the locals, getting fit and enjoying the brilliant
sunshine and blue skies.
Your hospitality and
friendship have been so special and we wish you every happiness and
success.
We’ll be back!

Attempting an original way to say thank you and to comment on the
delightful Casa Margherita, as well as the hospitality of our hosts is
extremely difficult! Your previous guests have stolen all the
superlatives. We too have thoroughly savoured all that Carunchio
offers. To find that perfect Italian house in our next endeavour….. so
you will see us again.
We
recommend lunch at Bar Ristorante ‘La Pincta’ on the intersection of the
valley road and the main highway at Petaccati – basically a road house
with great seafood and Bar Ristorante I5 Tigli just outside Liscia –
superb views are the bonus.

Clare & Paul,
Just
a few lines to let you both know how much i enjoyed staying at Casa
Margherita recently.
My
parents (Elena & Tony Dearlove) stayed in your properties for 2 weeks
and i joined them for the last 5 days. It made such a difference renting
a house rather than stay at the nearby refurbished Palace, and i fell in
love with the roof terrace. We have been visiting the village for many
years as my mum is from Carunchio, and i am sure we will stay at Casa
Margherita again as we all loved it so much.
Good
luck with the new addition to your family, she was beautiful.
See
you both next year.

Thank
you Paul and Clare for a peaceful stay. It was lovely to be greeted
daily by the locals. A heart warming community.
The
blessing of our stay was the birth of Paul and Clare’s baby.

tastefully decorated home with all the home comforts.

Dear Claire,
Our two weeks in Carunchio, in Casa Margherita were very special. The
village is lovely, and the surrounding mountains, countryside, and
little towns are just beautiful.
Casa Margherita is a delightful house, restored beautifully, roomy and
comfortable. We especially enjoyed the upper floor with all its light
and air and wonderful balconies.
Peaceful Retreats is the perfect name for this very special vacation.
Wishing you the very best,

Fantastic views, what a beautiful place to stay. The house is stunning
with everything you need for your stay.
Would recommend a trip to Bomba the artificial lake is gorgeous. Pizza
from the bakery is a must but go early, they sell out very quickly.
Thank you Clare

Perfect
accommodation in a perfect setting.
The village is
surrounded by lovely scenery – truly away from all the tourists down
near the coast – the people were very welcoming and friendly always with
a smile and greeting.
Our holiday has been
one of the best ever and we certainly will recommend to our friends.

Carunchio

Our stay at Casa
Margherita was one of the most relaxing
holidays for many years. The house is perfectly equipped, with lovely
views and a great terrace, where we gazed at the stars many nights.
Carunchio
is one of the most beautiful villages we have seen in Italy. The people
are extremely friendly and helpful, especially Clare who was there with
advice and recommendations - at any time during our stay.
AMAZING!!!!!
(We are already
planning our next visit!)
